Agricultural Policies in Action
Labor-Saving Mechanization and Equipment
Modernization: Upgrading the Agricultural Industry
The AFA is comprehensively promoting programs to
modernize agricultural equipment and introduce labor-
saving mechanization across the agricultural industries.
These programs support key policy objectives—alleviating
rural labor shortages, achieving net-zero emissions, and
strengthening export competitiveness—through initiatives
that increase efficiency through shared agricultural
machinery, industry upgrade and professionalization,
circular agricultural practices for sustainable production,
and modernized grain production.
To achieve net-zero emissions in agriculture by 2040, the AFA
guides farmers to adopt agricultural machinery that contributes to
carbon sinks by increasing the content of organic materials in
farmland soil, such as large branch shredders and no-till seeders.
The agency also promotes agricultural machinery electrification by
offering increased subsidies for electric equipment with lower
carbon footprints and additional incentives for farmers who
replace old fuel-powered machinery. Furthermore, agricultural
research and extension stations and universities support farmers
and farmers’ organizations in establishing integrated, mechanized operation sites spanning from
production to collection by leveraging existing resources, optimizing current equipment,
procuring or introducing new equipment. The AFA also supports the implementation of
integrated, automated systems for grain production, harvesting, storage, and sales.
