APMG No. 2 of Coarse Grains, Alishan Township (Chiayi County) — From zero to
hero, a new paradigm for agriculture in mountainous regions

For many, Typhoon Morako was just a long gone memory, but for the APMG No. 2 of
Alishan Township, who successfully rebuilt from the aftermath of that typhoon attack, it was

the start of a journey to remember. Uniting as one, group members overcame great obstacles
and quickly regained their footing. By using production assets, burdening risks, and allocating
revenues collectively, they not only restored the production of traditional crops but also
created their own branding identity “Cayama Fine Food” and enabled every piece of land to
obtain organic certification. The APMG also launched “Fine Food for those in Need” project to
support underprivileged families with fresh and healthful foods. When looking back, the APMG
No. 2 has come a long way from losing everything to becoming a capable provider, who no
longer sees Cayama just as a land to hold on to but rather a place for passing on their cultural
heritage.
