Expanding Organic and Eco-friendly Farming:
Promoting Environmental Sustainability in Agriculture

Based on the Organic Agriculture Promotion Act, the AFA promotes organic and eco-
friendly farming with the goal of increasing cultivated land by 1,500 hectares annually. The
agency implements various support measures, providing subsidies to reduce farmers’ costs,
including fees for organic and in-conversion certification and testing, equipment needed for
production and marketing, and approved farming materials. The AFA guides the establishment
of organic areas for group cultivation and organic agriculture promotion zones to expand
production area and diversify output, encouraging conventional farmers to transition to organic
practices.

The AFA also actively promotes the use of organic ingredients in school lunches, military
meals, and corporate catering services. The agency works with retailers to set up organic
product sections, supports the development of organic farmers’ markets, and builds
e-commerce platforms for organic farms to diversify marketing channels. To promote organic
lifestyle choices and awareness, the AFA conducts organic food and agriculture education in
schools and organizations. Additionally, the AFA has signed bilateral organic equivalency
agreements with eight countries to expand overseas markets and strengthen trade partnerships.
Through academic research, international trade activities, and participation in international
organic exhibitions and trade shows, the AFA enhances Taiwan’s visibility in the global market.
