化 。 植 株 型 態 具 有 矮 性 (bush type) 及 蔓 性 (climb type) 兩 種 。 果 型 大

小 可 分 小 果 (cherry tomato)、 中 果 (medium type)、 大 果 (largetype)。 再

則 便 是 以 食 用 方 法 分 類 為 觀 賞 番 茄 ( ornamental tomato)、 加 工 番 茄

(process tomato) 及 鮮 食 番 茄 (fresh tomato) 等 。 而 習 慣 性 之 使 用 性 分

類 又 有 果 汁 番 茄 (juice

tomato)、水果番茄(fruit tomato)、煮食番茄(cooking tomato) 及牛肉番茄(beef tomato

or steak tomato)， 而日本更將粉紅色桃形者特稱為桃太郎(ももたら)。而依著色程度及

採收適期則分成青蓋、一點紅(green shoulder)、青番茄(green tomato) 及全紅番茄(我

國特有之名稱)。
